SHARING MEDICAL INFORMATION
NHSScotland is improving the way it uses information from GP patient records. SPIRE is a service that will allow small amounts of information from GP practice records to be used to help doctors’ surgeries, NHSScotland and the Scottish Government to improve care and plan services, and to help researchers to learn more from patient information held at GP practices.
A new campaign is underway to inform patients across Scotland of the benefits of the service, and the confidential and secure way in which GP patient records will be used to help plan and improve health care services.
You have a choice about your patient record being used in this way. To find out more, go to spire.scot
It's that time of year again when we are offering immunisation against flu. We have special clinics set up so if you are in an at risk group then please do make an appointment. Alternatively, if you have a long term condition and are aged between 18-65, you can go to a local pharmacist who is offering this service in partnership with the practice.
NATIONAL BOWEL SCREENING PROGRAM
You can't always see the signs!
Bowel Cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK. The earlier it's found, the more effectively it can be treated.
If you are aged 50 - 74 you will automatically be sent a free kit that can detect early signs of bowel cancer. If you are 74 or over, you can request a kit by calling freephone 0800 707 60 60.
More information on the programme can be found at
