Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.

Travel Clinic

Podiatry

Please complete this referral form and return it to the Podiatry Department who will then be in touch with an appointment.

Weight Management

You can self refer for help with weight loss to this service. There are also specific courses for those with pre-diabetes 'Let's Prevent' and Diabetes 'DESMOND' or 'Counterweight Plus'.

Termination Referral

Patients can self-refer between the hours of 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday. Please ensure you are able to speak privately when you call. You will be asked for some personal details relating to your appointment. Your first appointment is usually a phone consultation, you will then have to attend an appointment at Chalmers Centre, or St John’s Hospital if you live in West Lothian.

Booking your first midwife appointment

Your first main appointment is your booking appointment (booking visit) with your midwife. It normally takes place between 8 and 12 weeks of pregnancy. Please call 0131 536 2009 to arrange this. More information can be found here.

South East Recovery Hub

The Recovery Hub is a one – stop shop which offers a full range of drug and alcohol treatment and support services. Each is run by a team of staff of voluntary sector, NHS and social work staff.

Care Equipment and adapting your home

If you’re elderly, disabled or have a long term health condition and want help to live safely and independently in your home, using equipment, technology or making adaptations to your home may be a good option for you. This could include: getting equipment, like shower rails, adapting your home by installing a ramp or widening the doors, using everyday technology like computers or tablets to keep in touch with friends and family, or do your shopping online and using telehealthcare, for example community alarms and sensors.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Improving the Cancer Journey (ICJ) offers everyone affected by cancer (including families and carers) the chance to have a conversation with a dedicated ICJ practitioner to discuss your needs and help you access tailored information and support. You can talk to us about how you feel, get help with housing or money worries, or help at home - whatever matters most to you.
